How do you design for a community made up of diverse cultures, languages, and stories?

As a leader of Bennington College's Asian & Pacific Islander Collective , I designed the organization's brand identity and several other project materials, honoring the wide spectrum of API students on campus — spanning international students, diaspora, and mixed-heritage identities. The end-product was a visual system that feels both celebratory and grounded, unifying a multifaceted community through color, texture, and type.

Designing to Inform

While much of APIC’s visual design centered on representation and celebration, I also considered how design could inform. I created an Instagram carousel post highlighting Bennington College’s API-related curriculum — a clear, accessible overview of courses that engage with Asian and/or Pacific Islander identity.

Designing for Moments of Gathering

I also developed promotional visuals for APIC’s campus and college town projects, ranging from cultural festivals, through local exhibits, to intimate gatherings. Each visual was crafted to reflect the mood and purpose of the occasion, all while staying true to our core brand identity: vibrant, and rooted in belonging.

APIC

The organization’s designs unified a multicultural student collective through vibrant visual language — weaving together color, texture, and type to reflect the layered identities of Bennington College’s API community.
